Our children work in mixed ability classes according to their age and are taught by a class teacher who has overall responsibility for their learning and well-being. There is often a teaching assistant working alongside the class teacher. However, in many classes there are extra support assistants working with targeted children. Work is differentiated and tailored to the specific needs of each child in order that each may reach their full potential whilst at Grestone Academy. At some stage, your child may be part of a small intervention group, be it to catch up on learning missed through illness, receive preparation for new learning or to extended building on specific talents.
At Grestone Academy, we have a significant number of support staff in order to maximise learning. The school employs a team of qualified teaching assistants, some have specific special needs training or EAL qualifications. These staff work with our children who are new to English. Grestone Nursery is staffed by a teacher and a qualified NNEB.
